Day 97: January 30, 2011.

I saw a little girl on the subway on my way to church this morning who brightened my whole morning.  I was already in a good mood (I LOVE Sundays!) but she made me even happier.  She wasn't really doing much of anything...She was sitting on her dad's lap, repeating the word "Daddy" and looking around and around wide-eyed from the time I got on the train at 14th and 3rd to the time they got off at 6th Ave (2 stops).  There was no purpose behind her babbling except for because she was enjoying saying it.  Her huge eyes were constantly moving, taking in everything and everyone on the train.  She was in her own little world over there but was very much a part of the world she shared with the rest of us.  A few other passengers had the same reaction as me, smiling at how cute she was until either they or the family got off, and I was reminded of the innocent joy that kids harbor.  To me, that is one of the most beautiful joys that exists because it's so real.  It was early, it was cold, it was a bumpy train ride, but that girl didn't mind.  I'm not really sure if she even noticed any of those things as I had because she was too busy enjoying the moment at hand.

I see kids like this fairly frequently either on the train or walking down the street and each and every one of them makes me smile.  It's so refreshing to cross paths with them because all it takes is that couple seconds or few minutes to remember to stop dwelling on the annoyances that really just don't matter and live in and be grateful for each and every moment! :)

Today, the wisdom of children and their silent lessons make me happy :)
