Day 96: January 29, 2011.

As I was walking to yoga earlier this evening I saw this sight and had to snap a picture because I thought it was so cool:

The day before there had been a movie advertisement here, and honestly I never even really thought twice about it.  But today it was becoming something else because of the work of the guy up on that lift who had to go in and paint the new ad.

I was actually amazed by this and found myself walking slower as I passed so I could watch him work.  Remember in middle school math class (I don't remember which year) we had to do those graphing assignments?  I don't remember much about them except for we were given a small version of an image and a normal-sized piece of graphing paper.  Our job was to translate the image to the graph paper accurately, being precise in our measurements and making it look exactly like the model only bigger.  Like I said, I don't remember much about the assignment except for the fact that I struggled with it.  I actually don't even remember if I finished it!  I guess my brain just doesn't think like that?  I don't know, but I do know that that's why I found this guy's work so amazing!  There I was in 6th or 7th grade unable to draw an image on a little piece of graph paper right in front of me, yet here was this worker--this artist--doing basically the same thing, but creating a real piece of art for the public and doing so in the public's eye! Not to mention he was including shading and other compositional elements that, in my opinion, gave this new advertisement (or whatever it's meant to be) a real artistic spin.  SO awesome!!

Today, being able to witness people working in their element that's so far out of my own makes me happy :)
