It's snowing really hard right now. Like thunder-snowstorming. I know the odds are slim (like, probably not going to happen) but I'm going to keep believing that there's a possible chance of classes being cancelled tomorrow :)
It's been really grey and snowy all day actually, as I know it's been back home in Virginia as well. (All you lucky ducks with those snow days! ;)) I went to bed early last night and slept all through the night quite peacefully, so even though I woke up this morning with a little extra energy just knowing that you have to trudge down the street through the disgusting slush that's taking over the sidewalks is enough to start draining that energy before you even step foot outside! (Though I really can't complain one bit, for I know that the traffic in Virginia all afternoon has been absolutely and utterly insane...it took a neighbor of mine an hour and a half to get from the grocery store back to his house...the grocery store is four miles away. People have been sitting for hours and still have a good way to go!! So crazy!!) Anyway, needless to say by the time dance was done this morning I was beat. And knew the day was only halfway done. (I still had comp class, was planning on taking yoga-which I did and it was wonderful!, and then rehearsal ending at 10...there were still somethings to be done!) I decided it would probably be in my best interest to take a little nap while I had the time during my break this afternoon. Let me tell you, even if you don't think you're in need of a little midday snooze, some days it would just be in your best interest to take one! I turned on my music low, crawled into bed and slept for no more than probably 25 minutes or so, but it was a 25-minute power nap that gave me that little boost of energy that I was able to ride off of for the rest of the afternoon! Sometimes--always--our bodies know best what it's in need of. Sleep included! So I think it's really important to listen to it when it's telling us to shut off the TV, get off the phone, turn off our computers and just let it properly heal! This is something I'm definitely going to be very aware of as the coming weeks grow busier and busier! :)
Tonight, as I pray for classes to be called off tomorrow due to this crazy weather, the ability our body has to restore itself during times of rest, no matter how quick or pointless they may seem to us at the time, makes me happy and is something to be very grateful for! :)
