Day 28: November 23, 2010.

We finally made it home for Thanksgiving break :):) After a long drive through Pennsylvania on a seemingly never-ending stretch of road, we finally pulled into Ashburn and I could exhale a sigh of thankfulness for the few days that are to come :)  It's wonderful to be back!

On the way home I found myself totally awestruck by the beautiful painting of a sunset that stretch across the sky.  It wasn't one of those split-second sunsets, but it stayed plastered across the sky for a good long while.  We were allowed plenty of time to look at it and appreciate it for each and every unique piece of it, all of which made up the sight before our eyes.  I kid you not when I say it was one of the most stunning sunsets I'd seen in a long time.

I posted this as my Facebook status when I got home:

"I look up and the night sky blows me away with its simplicity: a no-longer-full moon hangs behind a thin haze of fog, illuminating the choppy clouds so as to separate them visually from the deep blue expanse serving as its backdrop. A Virginia night sky is not a NYC night sky, neither one better nor worse than the other. Both beautifully different. I feel so blessed to have the best of both worlds."

One simple sunset-actually, this particular one was quite complex in its kaleidoscope colors and patterns that shifted and changed for about an hour before dulling down as the sun made its final descent, but that's beside the point-caused me to compare the beauty of my current home in New York City to the beauty of my home that could never be replaced here in Virginia.  Neither one, like I said, is better or worse than the other.  They're just different, and it's those differences that I'm most appreciative of.

Tonight, natural beauty and my homes make me happy :)
